I found out where the BTTF box had gone to btw. Nowhere. It had been at the local terminal all the time and despite of the fact that I ORDERED them to have it sent back for revaluation. NO ONE deceives the battleangel and gets away with it!

:upset:

So I had to cash out the package and the Djangos package as well. Bummer. And just when I am just over the initial rage I open the Djangos package and realize it isn’t at all the package I thought it was. You see, I figured, by the value of the package, that it was indeed Escaflowne and Leviathan. I.e. one relatively expensive movie that would have brought the price up a bit and thus caused the customs raid.

But oh no! It was in fact Mortal Kombat and Demolition Man. Two really low-priced movies that I ordered for one reason only - the price. It was just unbeatable. They were like $2.99 each and since the shipping was free I didn’t really need to think twice. As I think I noted yesterday, the value of the package was 206 SEK (just over $20). So, how does $6 become $20 you wonder?

Well, the staff at Djangos have the hand writing of a five-year-old. The customs declaration looks like something by Pablo Picasso. You get the point. The value field looks like an arc or a slash. If you are really nice you could interpret it as a “7” by Picasso but I think not. And 7 (not equals) 6 so ..

What happened then do you think? Well, the customs department did a little handy-work and performed a “computer image printout” as they call it. That means they tried to find the value of the movies. And for some reason ended up with 206 SEK. That value ($20) also happens to be when this customs department (Malmö) finds it productive to tax packages. It is sort of an unofficial threshold value because of practical issues. Since I learned this it is interesting to note that they just “happened” to reach an estimated value just above that threshold.

Put simply, if the declared value had been $6 I am fairly certain that customs would never have picked it up. But a package with no value is a big problem. Lets face it, nothing is free and thus a package can not have the value “0” or “undeclared”. I can only hope that Escaflowne et al. find their way safe home to me.

How will I proceed? Well, for one I will contact the Malmö terminal and also Djangos. I am hell-bent on getting my money back.
