Did you know .. ?

Did you know that in Sweden you have to void you ADSL account from your current provider BEFORE you can establish if any competing providers are available in your area.
This is easily the most stupid technical solution that I have seen in a very long time. And as with so many other bad technical solutions we have Telia/Skanova to thank for this. Obviously there SHOULD be a national registry for all base and kc stations with the number of ports available for each provider. This cloak-and-dagger stuff is bad for the individual consumer (me) and is so typical for a new market such as DSL. I wonder why people can never get things right to begin with?

Edit: Or you can do a geographic telephone search and use a neighbours number to query the ADSL providers of course. Why didn’t I think of that to begin with? It seems now that it would be very prudent to void the Telia account, and pay the extra fee in order to join Spray ..
Hopefully I will get the rebate check tomorrow also so that I can in fact get the bloody ADSL bridge. And since I know that my Telia account will be activated on the 13th I am going to track down and approach the technician in question and forcibly make him cooperate. In either case I can annul the agreement within 14 days of accepting it. That is the beauty of this concept.
It is time that the consumers show the market we do not accept this kind of behavior that Telia has shown.
