I voided the Telia account. The first customer service person I talked to didn’t really understand the word “service” and refused to do it for different reasons. I soon became really rude as well and eventually had to hang up. I called back, got another, more service minded person and the account was closed just like that.
Now, all I have to do is wait for someone to pull the switch and I can finally get a real service provider. Namely Spray. And then I can just as well buy the (same) Zyxel ADSL bridge from them. So, up yours Telia. You can kiss my ass the backside of my phone bill.
Now, at best, I can have a functioning connection in 10 working days. Or more likely 20 working days. But I suppose that 20 days isn’t that long if you have already been waiting for three years. Hopefully nothing will go wrong in the meantime, such as the station running out of open ports.
I had a long talk with Skanova as well. Guess if they were in the mood to help? Not really. The person that called back had really been trying to shed some light on the situation but no one in direct connection with the broadband services wanted to call me back. They just didn’t care because I was an end user.
I ought to make them pay for their insolence.
Also, I have been thinking about in house connection sharing. Or a black network if you will. Currently I have in my possession one single 10Mbps hub. Not that useful all by itself. And especially since I now use 100Mbps internally. Ok, there I have little choice but to shell out another 600 SEK on a router/switch such as the Netgear RP614 Router (4x 10/100Mbit switch). Quite frankly I don’t feel like having yet another comp online just so that I can use it as a router (even if I have most parts readily available). The noise is killing me already if you know what I mean.
As for using two NICs in the same computer .. I don’t know. I must investigate that option further in terms of CPU load. Also, is there a way to rout data through the PCI bus and the NICs even if the computer is in power off? Probably not using consumer level electronics. The dedicated router is a nice, small and quiet solution for the problem.
