Site dev.

I’ve been playing around with the site a bit. First of all I installed all of the Nucleus plugins that I’ve missed over the last couple of months, including the Related Links plugin which I quite frankly haven’t been able to figure out yet. Watch the progress here on the testblog page.

The archive page got a small face lift as well as a new plugin that displays articles by name.

One of the least obvious plugins I am sure is the Gzip extension. So now at least the Nucleus content of this site is gziped. This is an ongoing project and I will try to enable this with ALL pages in a few days. Gziping as you probably guessed trades off bandwidth for CPU cycles but I think it’s worth it. Under ideal conditions you can save as much as 50-75% bandwidth transferring real time gziped content. See this page for more info on enabling gziping with PHP 4.1+.
