Smart Hardware: Media Hub

I think I forgot to mention this. This is a brilliant little piece of hardware that I picked up at Biltema for like four bucks a couple of weeks ago.

Essentially, the hub is nothing more than an audio switch capable of alternating between headphones and speakers. It has a volume control and a microphone mute button. It also has a 2.5 mm socket so that you can use typical telephone headsets if you’d like. It’s brilliant really. It even comes with an adhesive velcro strip attached.

No more crawling behind the computer and finally a viable way to switch back and forth between speakers and headphones. It might also be of some use if you’ve got a really short cord on your headset.
I was a bit hesitant to recommend it at first since there seemed to be a glitch with one of the connectors. The volume was really low on the output and I feared that the design was flawed. However, the problem went away and I now feel more comfortable recommending it. So if you’ve got a dual stereo setup like I do this device will make your day.
