It seems Scandinavian telephone giant Teliasonera is finally caving under the pressure of competition and disgruntled users. According to this article, Teliasonera has just introduced flatrate to their 2 Mbit DSL service and adjusted the price downward by a small margin to 449 SEK / month.
Of course, there have been other xDSL solutions available for some time now. Solutions that are many times faster than 2 Mbit. The main thing to remember is that those alternatives are only available to a minute fraction of the Swedish users. This service on the other hand is available to almost everyone that can use the vanilla 0.5 Mbit service (i.e. yours truly).
Now, all I can do is wait and see what the competition will do in response to this. Currently, Teliasonera has been pretty much the only company to offer the service because no one else wanted to touch a non-flatrate price model. Hopefully, the likes of Spray and Bostream will start offering the service and be able to axe the price further.
