Bottom line is, topic separation. Also considering moving all site and script related topics to a new branch and their own log. Just because they also lack public interest.
The decision to disable commenting and certain other features from the personal log (i.e. this log) is a very conscious one. I get a feeling that when writing about fairly trivial things, one can expect rather trivial commentary. And you know how it is with comments. You feel obliged to respond even if you don’t agree or if the commenter just made small talk. And that is just awful. I hate small talk. And little excuses for socializing.
Also, personal musings tend to be very unclear at times and so one could expect pointless requests to clarify. And besides, I don’t want people to meddle in my personal business. I really hate that. So one-way communication it is.
But the irony is course that this is truly what most would consider a “weblog”. And from experience I know that this is what most “weblogs” do. They manage to say very little and instigate a vicious circle of triviality through commenting.
Oh and one more thing. It’s not weblog, blog or blogging anymore. Those terms have just been abused and overused one time too many. I’m sick of that derogatory connotation.
