I re-wrote the entire thing in a very simple manner. More features may come. Bottom line is that AMIP now injects the filenames into a mysql table via a PHP script. As opposed to saving them to a flat file (and only holding the last one).
So now I can have a “retro playlist” of recently played music. And possibly do all kinds of operations on the filenames and customize output.
Upon searching the web I came upon Foreclosure of a Dream which has a really advanced, though unreleased, script called myWinamp Song History (myWinSOH). Aside from having a nicer song layout, the script also grabs CD covers. Ouch. Gotta work on that.
UPDATE: Code has been updated.
