The Potatoes

Kind of quaint. But a nice tradition.
It’s time to put some effort into the garden. All the things I didn’t do last year essentially. Like my proposed asian entrance (inspiration). And the Mesozoic fern corner (inspiration). And the limestone work bench. Plus outlining all plantations and trees with stone slabs.

The Academics

I had to do something. And today is the last day for applying obviously.
Looks like I’ll be digging thru some stray courses like Social Anthropology and Political Theory. Could be Evolutionary Psychology. Maybe. Unless I find a job. Does it seem whimsical? It is. Do I seem uninspired? A bit. My increasing disillusionment has more [...]

The Spring Photo Album

I give you: Polytrichum commune. From the Spring photo album which I will populate better as time goes on. Right now, it’s mostly mosses. I just like the almost infinitely small landscapes that they occupy. It’s like an entirely different world as seen through the camera.
Note to self: I should really get a macro lens [...]

The Free Shear Manual Mower

This season I have promised myself to finally move to a free shear manual mower. The question is just which one. As I recall it, Husqvarna was the best choice the last time anyone bothered to test free shear mowers.
“Model 540 with NovoLette cutting system is a unique free shear type manual mower which minimises [...]

The Globetrotter

I was browsing thru the new Globetrotter Ausrüstung catalog the other day. What a cool company that is. Too bad I never bought anything from them though.
The main problem is still shipping and handling. Globetrotter.de has some sort of special deal in Denmark but for the rest of us in Scandinavia, we’re out of luck. [...]

The Tax

This year’s tax papers indicate that I owe the government. Again. Getting very, very sick and tired of this. It’s a good thing I’m cheapskating around everything else or I’d be really, really mad right now.

The Lenses

Still using the same pair of Purevision lenses. This has got to constitute some sort of record for me. Soon to be 7 months. Removing them for a night every two weeks or so and adhering to certain basic hygiene standards just nullifies any concerns the industry may have.
Lets face it, it’s all lies and [...]

The Drought

Sent out another batch of job applications. Half of which were to positions I’m not qualified for. At least not by formal standards. But you never know. There is no such thing as miracles or luck, just incompetent people. One of them may actually hire me. Hmmm. Maybe I’ve been reading too many management books [...]

The Crocus

The Suspension

Ford Focus rendered inoperable by fluke failure. As you can see, the front right coil spring suspension has snapped.
Now, I don’t know how common this is, but for a 11000 (Swedish) mile vehicle, it seems a bit premature. I had kind of hoped there would be something wrong with the pads and disc instead. Obviously [...]
