Well, at least I got around to change and figure out in detail how V-brakes / “direct pull” cantilevers (image is the correct model, i.e. Shimano LX) work and should be tuned. Yeah I know, it’s lazy but I’m getting there. At least I’m ahead of the game for the moment. With a new saddle and some gear tuning I think this thing will roll for another year without any major hickups. For a bike that is what, 5-6 years or so, it’s looking damn fine. Thank god for aluminum.
