The Phone Recordings

Reminiscing. Digging through the archives I came upon something odd … a really weird phone practise from way back in 2001. Upon realizing how easy it was to use an ordinary modem to record and store phone conversations digitally (mp3) I just went for it. I suppose I reckoned that whatever I was doing it was important enough that it should be preserved for posterity.

All in all I recorded a total of 37 outgoing calls between August and October before running out of steam. And so far, four years later I’ve had zero use for this archive. Exclusively, every file is somehow related to either indoor decorating, lighting or humidifiers. None have that really aggressive, confrontational or edgy quality that I wanted. Most were just information calls that amounted to nothing. Too bad I didn’t monitor the conversations I had with government officials during my DVD import tax fit in 2002.

Gee. I just got an urge to enable this feature again. It’s so sneaky somehow.
