1000 GB

I’ve had Azureus running for 227 days, though not consecutively, and just passed 1000 GB transfer (almost exactly 500 up, 500 down). Now that is something to celebrate.
Also, I noticed that I can now get 8 Mbit ADSL, and I got all excited until I read the fine print and realized that you only get [...]

Batman Begins

Easily one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. And the Batman and indeed comic book movie we’ve all been waiting for. For as long as I can remember.
What I particularly like about Batman Begins is the contemplative issues that arise throughout the movies. Like crime and punishment. Revenge. Hatred. Vigilantism. Ideas [...]

Summertime

Sci-fi Premieres

Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Battlestar Galactica … what a weekend. And what a lineup for Sci-fi Friday.
I guess there is still hope after Richard Dean Anderson.
One thing that has been bothering me increasingly is the projected image of the US that is present in both SG-1 and to some extent Atlantis. I am irked [...]

Not So Fantastic Four

Dismal acting, especially by Alba who just feels dead wrong for the part. Silly, and nervously humorous but a good summer super hero movie. Not a new hallmark for Marvel though. Just too superficial. The reviewers say it best …
“An overinflated B-movie with no grace, no subtext, no wit, and featuring beefcake/cheesecake actors who look [...]

Work

Since I started work today there will be significantly less of an effort made on the website(s) and the content rendition.

Redesigning …

I felt I needed the “latest posts” boxes. But they didn’t quite turn out the way I expected them to. At least I found a way to rid myself of images, if I could ever get it to display right in IE. Must have done something to break the concept. Oh well.
I’m thinking I should [...]

War of the Worlds

So I went to see it and all my preconceptions were just blown away. A little dull at times, sure, but beautiful, gloomy, dark and scary. Very few heroisms a la Independence Day. Very few, if any, comic reliefs. Instead, what hit me was the dysfunctional family that Cruise’s character is placed in. Definitely a [...]

Strawberries

So, I harvested the first strawberries of the season yesterday. It’s nice in a roundabout way to make things of your own. Even though the time invested in the garden hardly pays off in terms of harvested biomass.

Bandwidth and Stats - June

Seems to be a problem with the bandwidth metering in cPanel. I’m getting 7.7GB which is quite impossible. Especially since the gallery* and movies* subdomains shows double the usage in the overview which also goes into the overall stats. I reckon the correct figure should be 5-5.5 GB but I’ll have to confirm this. At [...]
