Easily one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long time. And the Batman and indeed comic book movie we’ve all been waiting for. For as long as I can remember.

What I particularly like about Batman Begins is the contemplative issues that arise throughout the movies. Like crime and punishment. Revenge. Hatred. Vigilantism. Ideas about the origins of crime. Poverty. Insanity. Psychiatric institutions. Psychopharmacology. Corporations and stock markets. How we try to hide and marginalize social problems (like on the Arkham island) but that they get to us anyway in the end. The list goes on …

If I’d have to guess I’d say Hollywood is increasingly producing “realistic” movies (as opposed to “romanticistic”).
