So, I’ve been using the reel mower now for a couple of runs and so far I’m very impressed. I can’t deny I get a little sweaty, and more so than I used to but I’ve also been able to cut down the run time to around 25 minutes. Essentially 10 minutes less than with the rotor mower. Plus the time I used to waste finding ear plugs and refueling. So it’s quite significant. And that is still considering how utterly difficult it is to use the reel in a slope.

All in all extremely healthy, rather dripping wet instead of cool as a breeze and having inhaled and burnt a litre of fossil fuel.

Other thoughts:
- The mower’s low weight doesn’t press so hard on the lawn and hence doesn’t leave strings of unmowed grass where the wheels have passed. Not that first thing you think about but it’s an added bonus.
- You know you’ve struck gold when you’re stopped by neighbours who can’t quite figure out how the mower can be so quiet and still leave such a nice result.
