Hitchhiker’s Guide

First, it took months for it to reach Sweden and then my local cinema decided not to open the feature as planned but rather wait a couple of weeks. After that you just don’t pay for a movie. You download it. Thankfully Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was released as a dvd rip a few days ago and so I finally got to see the movie. I know I’ve said it a million times but I never get tired of pointing out to the media conglomerates what they do wrong.

About the movie, it was crap. Just crap. I haven’t felt so bored in a long time. I’ve read the books and consider myself to be a dormant fan of Douglas Adams but this just wasn’t even close. The gags were mostly cut off, the movie felt short and constipated and obviously there were huge chunks of the books missing. And then there is that detail about those bloody Americans not understanding British humour. One gag that they did include was the part of Vogons reciting poetry, but they should have noted that sitting through the Hitchhiker’s Guide if you’ve read the books and have expectations is almost as bad. I think that the best part of the movie was the narrator and the brilliant animated passages that once in awhile woke you from your comatose existence. Overall dull, dreary and botched.
