I should really do something about the layout, scale down the number of buttons and irrelevant options and try to integrate them into the current design. They do look a little passe.

Coffea arabica

The woolly lice / mealybugs got the best of me. Despite chemical treatment, I decided to let the 10 year old Coffea arabica go. The bugs proved to be more resistant that anticipated and the plant will just never recover its former glory.

Spent the weekend repotting and organizing indoor plants.

Who would have guessed …

That powdered onion and powdered garlic has almost the same effect as the real thing. Duh. Not a recipe for smart eating.

Evolutionary Psychology

Evolutionary Psychology (2nd Edition) Steven Gaulin, Donald McBurney
ISBN 0131115294 (Hardback) Aug 2003, 416 pages

The second edition of Evolutionary Psychology is the only text on the market that shows the relevance of evolutionary thinking to the entire range of psychological phenomena, and it does so at a level appropriate for students new to the field. The [...]

Voice Mail Telescams

I just had an unsolicited call by an automated telephone voice mail system. Kind of neat even though it’s not exactly novel. First time it ever happened to me though. Seems as they have started targeting Swedish ranges of phone numbers now. The call was international and originated from 009724900000. Something about winning a cruise. [...]

IrDA Interface

I acquired an IrDA adapter earlier this week. Been meaning to get one of these for a long time but I never got around to it. My main motive now was the possible future use of a C-PEN or similar device and the need to beam data wirelessly for fast blogging purposes. Also, it is [...]

Tns Gallup IKEA

Was selected the other week to do a TNS Gallup survey on interior design and furniture. Ironic since the hefty survey centered on IKEA. I mean, they’d be hard pressed to find a more vocal supporter of IKEA. And not just their furniture but their business philosophy and culture.

American Empire Project - Now with a new and up-to-date Introduction by the author, the bestselling account of the effect of American global policies, hailed as “brilliant and iconoclastic” (Los Angeles Times)
The term “blowback,” invented by the CIA, refers to the unintended results of [...]

Hitchhiker’s Guide

First, it took months for it to reach Sweden and then my local cinema decided not to open the feature as planned but rather wait a couple of weeks. After that you just don’t pay for a movie. You download it. Thankfully Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was released as a dvd rip a few [...]

The Island

Actually took a frivolous visit to the cinema last week and saw The Island. Kind of worked for me. The quartet of dystopian venues in the form of (1) bio-ethics, (2) private security companies, (3) ruthless and unaccountable corporations and (4) the youth and beauty cult. But I guess that if one isn’t terribly entertained [...]
