A first small step towards renovating the mountainbike. Albeit a cheap and easy one. And a new dawn in acquisition theory one might say. Specifically, not to make such a big fuss about every detail and go into excruciating detail for every single widget. And somehow getting over the heuristic telling you not to get the cheapskate saddle but go for a Selle Italia.

Except for brake pads and new tubes (with more conventional valves) I’m thinking of changing the chain (for real this time) and getting a new rear derailer and everything that goes with that. The only problem of course is that with a stock LX system, you can really only go down from there. Especially if you bought your bike on a phenomenal sale and can’t fathom why Shimano components are so expensive.
