Cookie Press

Sometimes called a dough-gun. With discs and pastry nozzles. Does this seem like a strange thing to get?

Well I just got one. Seemed like an awfully cool gadget to have around, even if I am more of a muffin person myself. Also it reminded me of those dispenser guns you use for silicon construction sealant.

It can of course also be used for dispensing mashed potatoes or whatever. Or silicon sealant if you want a really fancy seal.

    does your cookie press work?

ours make a mess of it, or sort of explodes
and then we take the manual way of
    doing it ….

Yes and no. So far it doesn’t work as intended. Which is strange since most of the presses are designed around the same basic premise. I.e. if mine doesn’t work, neither should anyone else’s.

But then again, I’ve only tried it once. And I used a fairly "soft" dough with powdered sugar and potato starch. More for the pastry nozzle I suppose. I even put it in the freezer for a couple of minutes. I suspect that one needs a "dryer" dough, kind of like playdo. Not soft and sticky. And if that doesn’t work, cool it down. That is what I’m going to try.
