Naturomeds what?

I got a peculiar note from the Postal Service (foreign section at Arlanda) today. Apparently they have a package with my name on it that they want me to provide an invoice or receipt for. I assume they want to add tariff and VAT charges or something and lack a basis for doing just that.

The peculiar thing isn’t the customs duty, though it perhaps should be, but rather the fact that it seems to be a completely unsolicited batch of “dietary supplements” from Naturomeds. At least that is what the postage slip claims. Country of origin, India. 200 grams of … something .. or 5 packages. The details are sketchy. And by “dietary supplements” I mean of course asparagus penis enlargement pills and other stuff that is quite frankly even more esoteric. Typical pharmaceutical superstition that, while humorous, in some cases can be quite hazardous to your well-being. Anyone who has travelled in SE Asia knows very well what kind of medicines are sold in the street and the bold claims that go with them.

Could this be some sort of scam (beyond the effectiveness of the pills then)? But if so, how do they expect to collect any money from it? I will have to check that out tomorrow. Scams can be so intriguing.

UPDATE: I didn’t have time for this so I just had them send the package back to wherever it came from. You can keep your asparagus to yourself.
NEVERTHELESS: I got a pink bag in the post today. One that must have slipped through customs. It’s not the same EMS tracking number as the one above so … How many of these things are there? Anyhow the product seems to fall within the ayurvedic school of medicine. But I just don’t get it. Why would some guy in Mumbai (Bombay) have my full and accurate address (except they wrote Switzerland instead of Sweden, duh …) and then proceed to send free of charge ayurvedic medicines without so much as a note in the bag. No invoice. No indication of what the purpose is, like if they’re doing it as part of an ad campaign. I find it odd.

STUPID: Where did the pills come from? Well, as it turns out, someone got hold of my VISA # and ordered them in my name. Skimming?

    Hello,
We got 4 packages of 200g each today too. From the same company – Naturomeds from Mumbai (Bombay). We found your site and were warned about skimming. Thanks.

    Hi,

I am the fraud control manager at Naturomeds and we are a Ayurvedic Herbal Provider.Based on what you have written , i believe someone could have misused your credit card info to order from our store. If you could provide us with your name and address at the email mentioned while submitting this, we can immediately resolve this for you.

Also i am sure you may not believe in Ayurvedic Herbals like amny who dont, and at the same time there are people and doctors who spend their entire lives researching and documenting Ayurvdic Herbs and Ayurveda, a science thats been for over thousands of years.

We feel its very detrimental of you to speak about us in such a way.
It is not wise to pass judgements and arrive at conclusions when you dont know what ayurveda is and how it can help where the "money-making" pharmaceutical indutry fails.

Anyways, my concern here is not your personal views, but your views being expressed in public without any real fact or data.Hence we would request you to remove this post of yours or remove the objectionable references used concerning us.

And do email me the name & address, so i can checkup and take appropriate steps.

    Thanks,
    Steve

The matter has long since been resolved. As noted, it didn’t really have anything to do with Naturomeds per se.

I ordered some pills from Naturomeds and they didn’t send them. When I tried to contact them by phone they don’t respond, saying that they are closed. (website says open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week). I tried to contact them by email, and after many attempts, no reply. (website boasts that they reply within 24 hrs – guaranteed!) What a joke. They charged my credit card but didn’t send anything. I’m reporting them for fraudulent transactions.

Exact same circumstance happened to me: a nearly anonymous package from Mumbai by registered mail. In checking, I discovered a fraudulent charge against my Visa card. When I used the Naturomeds.com website to inform the company that I had received unsolicited "H-force" erectile dysfunction medication, the answer I got was "Thank you for informing us of the receipt of your order!"

I have informed my credit card companies, cancelled the credit card, filed a report of fraudulent charges, and filed a report with the U.S. Postal Service–and I will do everything in my power to ensure that these people are prosecuted.

As for the company representative’s contention that someone must have obtained my credit card and placed the order, why on earth would they do so and have the product sent to ME, knowing that it would alert me to the fraudulent charge? I don’t believe it for a minute.
