Not happening. I guess I can count that interior design idea as a no-go. I was really hoping I could do something original with spiral tubes but alas the person I thought would be able to supply me with discounted ducts seems no longer interesting in doing so. I had been in contact with a local Plant Shop that had previously used ducts for the same sort of display.
So I’m back at square one. The Spiro Spiral ducts are just too damn expensive to buy over the counter and I don’t have the machinery to cut into that sort of tempered steel, at least not if I want to have a reasonable and non-skewed result.
Would have done wonders for my plants, especially indoor ferns, though. With the duct end caps being like big, deep saucers where you can just pour water completely carefree and then use them as plant beds or tables / pedestals. Not to mention how great stainless steel is. It’s so great I even considered using tread plate for wallpaper once.
Oh well. Another time perhaps.
