I was just watching episodes from the last pitiful season of the sci-fi series Andromeda and wondering if I could get all that time back. You kind of hang on, just thinking it will pick up. Just one more episode. It’s bound to pick up. But alas it never did. Amazing really that this sort of drivel is kept on the air while other shows are axed. And I felt cheated having sat through five seasons of Earth Final Conflict. Boy, that was nothing compared to this. At least EFC took itself seriously in all its miserable and haphazard scripting. The link between the two series is hard to miss with their esoteric, soft sci-fi. They are like two peas in a pod.
Exactly the same stuff that weaves the new Battlestar Galactica to some extent though of course the experience at the helm brings BG just above the critical line. Overall I don’t like it. It feels like all the strength has been zapped from the genre and all that remains is a wishy-washy popularized sci-fi that sells because it’s mainstream, not because it is at all groundbreaking like some pretend. I don’t like where this is going.
