Three years and counting

I just realized I’ve been running essentially the same computer system for three years now. I ordered my last graphics card, the ATI (Sapphire) Radeon 9700 128MB at 2003-01-13 and the other major components upgrade, including the ASUS A7N8X and Athlon XP 2100+, arriving on 2003-02-05. You know what that means, don’t you? Resistance is futile.

Still, I feel I’ve gotten a lot out of this system. Perhaps because of the graphics card, which at the time was quite an investment. Games are still running pretty well, all things considered. I haven’t really thought about it but perhaps three years is the average workstation cycle around here. I already figured Unreal Tournament 2007 would be the breaking point when it comes out later this year. Lets wait and see.
