I was finally able to pick up a dual-audio / subbed version of Advent Children the other day. Bottom line: What a letdown. So I’m not into the FF mythology, but still, that was one long, boring and inconsistent movie that, unlike say Spirits Within catered to children. I thought Spirits Within was cliché at the time, but at least it had a story. One that could be summed up on the back of a napkin, but still a story … that could be summed up. This just felt like drivel, interrupted by jittery, epileptic sword fights.
Is there any way I could blame foreign involvement for ruining the Japanese movie business? Miyazaki, were art thou? In the meantime, I’m back to watching GITS 2nd GIG.
