Feed Congestion

Had to disable the Last.fm feed temporarily. Something is definitely wrong with the way Nucleus fetches data from plugins. Especially plugins that are designed to process data feeds from external sources. Perhaps something times out before the plugin has done its thing. As other people have reported, the likelihood of the problem occurring increases as the feed is moved towards the end of the template. The two feeds that I display on the index page (one being local and the other being from Silent Nation, which is also close by latency wise) have never produced such an error.

The error figures prominently in the error_log but it is hardly of epidemic proportions. I have nevertheless chosen to pause the feed reading since it taxes the server heavily as it is. Plus Last.fm are overhauling their servers since a couple of days ago so the feed is voided constantly anyway. On the plus side, the Last.fm crew gave out subscriptions to those that had been affected. Nice!
