Following the Registerfly implosion and loss of ICANN accreditation some 850.000 domain names were relocated to GoDaddy. So far I haven’t done much about it. I have all my domains at GoDaddy nowadays, despite their dismal track record. I don’t trust them, but who can you trust in the domain business, especially seeing as you may not legally own your domains in the eyes of ICANN.
The only reason to switch would be if you could get a better deal elsewhere or less fascist terms and conditions. But these days you can never be sure. And at the end of the day they’re all dependant on the ICANN regime, which may force registrars to act on "inaccurate" WHOIS information etc.
If I ever needed to move both my hosting and domains I’d examine services like NearlyFreeSpeech.NET or registrars like Gandi, Key Systems (hosts thepiratebay.org), Tucows (hosts nambla.org), DirectNIC (hosts godhatesfags.com) or other alternatives.
