Will be moving to Picasa permanently. In anticipation of that I removed the Coppermine Gallery folder and added a redirection to Picasa. I had thought of installing Gallery2, but the core problems would remain. I’d have a major script to upgrade every other week to patch the latest security vulnerability. And uploading images would be slow, tax the server and have to go through some silly java application like Gallery Remote (at best). Plus it would still eat up half of my disk quota and a hell of a lot of bandwidth. And the much sought after integration with Wordpress has been less than smooth in the case of Gallery2 and non-existent in the case of Coppermine.
If only Picasa had sub-folders and sensible image feed titles like Flickr … oh well. It’s free. And Picasa doesn’t have any of the silly limitations that are destroying free Flickr. I reckon, given the folder approach, that Picasa will eventually get sub-folders.
