I finally made an effort to replace the old 120 GB IBM 180GXP PATA disk of the HTPC with a 750 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 SATA. There is no comparing the speed here. Nor the operating sound level. Plus this disk comes with a 5 year warranty. It sure took some time to clone the old drive and Truecrypt the new drive. Truecrypt alone took about 8 hours to complete with the fastest options for my system.
Also got another SD card for digital cameras. A 4 GB SDHC SanDisk Extreme III.
