I am currently trying out a new sticking plaster for proactively taping heels and soles of feet before long hikes. Per recommendation I had the pharmacy bring in elastoplast. This plaster is rougher, thicker and more elastic, which makes fitting it considerably easier.
As noted, for some reason, none of the pharmacies I checked in with had the product in stock. The only suitable product they did have on hand was Leukoplast. Been there, done that. I’m not that impressed with Leukoplast. I was going to go for the skin-friendlier Leukosilk, but alas, the pharmacy had decided that it would only be available in the basic 2.5 cm width, which is half of what I like to use. Then again, no need to pick on the pharmacy, because none of the other alternative health stores or sporting goods stores had anything to offer at all. I mean, coach tape, come on … I might just as well wrap my feet in cellophane.
If this works out and I can finally find something that will beat Leukoplast, I’ll mail order a crate of this stuff in the fall.
First impression:
(-) The glue seems to be less sticky which it quite bad. I even washed my feet and did all the prescribed voodoo stuff (yes, clean feet is considered voodoo around here ;).
(+) But on the other hand, the plaster is thicker and is not so prone to rolling up and folding as Leukoplast. Two or three layers of Elastoplast down and across the heel and it will almost stand on its own.
