Windows Live Writer Beta (14.0.5025.904)

A new beta of Windows Live Writer is out. It seems to pretty much be a solid version of the tech preview. MS calls it “Wave 3″ of its Live client suit and it now has a new companion program, a video editor. Sadly, this latest beta of Live Writer still hasn’t addressed any of the basic concerns …

  • None of the new spell checking languages show up?
  • Still no way to select per blog language settings?
  • Image size field is gone. Why on earth would you remove this?
  • Still no way of tuning image compression (JPG) or color depth (PNG). I still feel that images are getting bloated compared to how I saved them in Photoshop.

On a related note, I was never able to install the Live Movie Maker. Turns out it was Vista only. That sure sucks. It seems extremely perplexing why Microsoft would release components to the Live suit that don’t run on XP like the rest of the programs.
