A hand sanitizer gel (alcohol rub) is something that I’ve been considering for a long time. Call it paranoia if you will, but it feels great and is very practical to have around when you’re away from home and lack a way to properly maintain hygiene.
Maybe you took your gloves off and touched a door handle, or a keyboard at a public terminal (yeah, they’re probably worse than licking a toilet seat). Maybe you had to use a public restroom and it didn’t feel clean or didn’t have a reasonable assortment of hygiene products (like hot water and soap).
What I like to do now is find a cheaper source of a 70% or better gel product. I did find the Dax 85% solution at my local pharmacy, but the price was twice that of online suppliers (not including shipping costs of course which is a deal breaker). I don’t know if it is worth the hassle. And I liked the handy, flat 150ml bottle that easily slips into a trouser pocket for convenient access.
