I went to the dentist a couple of weeks ago after a six year lapse or something.
Not a total disaster considering, but one thing that apparently did not work for me was the electrical toothbrush I’ve been using for a number of years. Apparently, it left plaque at the edge of the gum which in turn caused quite the infection. So, per recommendation, I’ve left the gadgets behind and gone back to soft manual toothbrushes again.
Turns out electrical brushes are not more effective than the manual variety (wikipedia). In fact, if you are a bit careless like myself, they perform considerably worse than the much easier to use manual kind. And in my experience it takes a lot longer to brush effectively using an electric brush. Plus the brush head on electrical brushes is much too hard and thus unsuitable for the gum. Which in turn creates even more plaque buildup.
So it is a bit like electric shavers then. The good old manual sort wins out in the end and is probably a great deal more environmentally friendly as well.
