Here is something that I’ve been using for some time with Windows Live Writer. Sharper Photo adds the ability to edit jpeg quality within WLW and to act as a bridge between WLW and your favorite image editor. So in effect it fixes many of the graphics gripes that I had with WLW.
Plus, the package now also contains the "Paste as JPG" plugin which can take images from the clipboard (like the one to the right) and paste them as jpeg instead of png. Png would have been fine of course, but WLW implements no options for pasting and so you always end up with gigantic PNG 24 files when a a selective PNG 8 would have been more than enough. Even manually editing png images in Photoshop has proven useless as WLW turns them inside out upon inclusion. Up until now I’ve been saving most screencaps as Gif before inclusion. At least now you have another option where applicable. Obviously not all screencaps work as Jpeg.
