Desktop Blogging Clients is pretty much the only reason I keep blogging. I can’t stand browsers with javascript solutions (even if they have gotten better). Time to get a fresh perspective on the playing field. Is w.bloggar still the number one solution? Obviously price isn’t an issue for us immaterial non-believers. That is of course [...]

Though for the record I am to be blamed for digging my own post. Self-promotion or server suicide?

Stats from midnight January 2nd - present. No fancy visistor stats, just graphical bandwidth usage to get a general idea. The post itself took about 5000 unique hits over 20 hours or so. The Digg was moderately popular [...]
If one trusts awstats. Its stats seem to be on the conservative side though, probably because it does so well at sorting out and excluding robots, spiders and error documents from the tally. And not counting subdomains of course like gallery. and movies.

I’ve been frantically trying to cope with the difficulties of upgrading my core modded version of 3.15 to 3.3CVS. The problem was that I had done my own separation of email and URL fields for comments. And better I might say than what they later committed to CVS. But I have to move on and [...]
Battleangel was hit by over 400 spam comments this morning within a few hours before I had a chance to update the manual blacklist and put an end to it. That is a new record. Obviously they were all caught by the Comment Control moderation plugin. Deleting them can be done in one swift operation, [...]
As I mentioned here, my hosting company was subject to a massive intrusion a few weeks ago. But that wasn’t the last of it unfortunately. I ran into something really awkward the other day as posts were being denied on Silent Nation. I couldn’t figure it out because I had no idea what to look [...]
Most notably, I suspended the use of NP_Referrer. In the end I felt that the benefit of having public Referrer data (that no one looks at presumably) did not outweigh the use of almost half of my total database and the extra load it must have produced gathering all that information.
Also, I fixed the Flying [...]
New version is out since a few days ago. Time to upgrade.
New features include, but are not limited to, GIF support for GD, exif manager, advanced user management, bridge support and manager, password protected albums and a plugin API. The theme system seems to be improved slightly as well with better XHTML compliance among other [...]
Silent Nation got attacked by some sort of worm or exploit last night. Don’t know if it is Wordpress specific or not. The details are described by other users so there is no point reiterating the whole thing.
Basically, and as far as I can tell, it attacks files chmodded 666 or better on the server. [...]
I’ve been putting in lots of work organizing and archiving the music that has been stacking up on my HD since the past six months or so. Not to mention re-tagging and renaming.
Added a bunch of records to the list, which sadly remains … very flat and textish.
